Fall high school sports begin next week here in Minnesota. Luckily many athletes have been working out this summer thereby decreasing their risk of injury. The enewsletter from my institution, HCMC, recently published an article about one common sports injury, the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) stretch or tear (http://myhealthnewsletter.com/hcmc/healthematters/august2012/article3.html). Unfortunately, I have been present a number of times when athletes tore their ACLs. Here is the link to the ACL injury article that also contains information about how to prevent an ACL injury. To all athletes-stay healthy and have a good season.
